Your journey through Girl Scouting and your service to girls begins with top quality training. Our volunteer training corps is one of the best in the world and dedicated to helping you have a successful volunteer experience. We are very proud of our high standards of adult training (all of our volunteers are trained for the job they do) and we encourage you to take advantage of as much Girl Scout training as you can while you are with us in West Pacific. ![]() All new troop leaders are required to take troop leader training within 6 months of appointment to their volunteer position. The Basic Leadership Training consist of 3 parts: 1) NEW VOLUNTEER ORIENTATION Designed to give the new volunteer an orientation to the human and program resources available in their local military community. Delivered by a member of your local Overseas Committee Management Team (OCMT). (2 hours) 2) BASIC LEADERSHIP TRAINING-PART 1: GIRL SCOUT BASICS This course is designed to give you a basic overview of the Girl Scout program. Delivered by a volunteer training team at you military community or within a 1 to 3 hour radius of your community. (3 ? hours) 3) BASIC LEADERSHIP TRAINING - PART 2: PROGRAM AGE LEVEL TRAINING A training designed to answer specific questions about the age level you will be working with: Daisy, Brownie, Junior, Cadette/Senior Girl Scouts. Delivered by a volunteer training team at your military community or within a 1 to 3 hour radius of your community. (3 ? hours) OTHER COURSES OFFERED BY USA GIRL SCOUTS OVERSEAS WEST PACIFIC: HOME STUDY TROOP LEADERSHIP COURSE OUTDOOR 1 - INTRODUCTION TO THE OUTDOORS OUTDOOR 2 -- CAMPING SKILLS OUTDOOR 3 - ADVANCED CAMPING SKILLS OVERSEAS COMMITTEE MANAGEMENT TEAM TRAINING TRAINING OF TRAINERS ![]() The Illinois Crossroads Girl Scout Council exemplifies "Be a sister to every Girl Scout." They are allowing us to use their e-learning system for Daisy, Brownie, Junior, and Older Girl Training. If you are unable to attend our training classes and have completed the USAGSO-West Pacific's New Volunteer Orientation, you are eligible to take this course. To begin, got to Illinois Crossroads Online Learning Opportunities and select the correct course. Before beginning, you will need your Country and OCC Codes to complete the training. Get the code from the Training Point of Contact for your Overseas Committee. You will also need to download the USA Girl Scouts Overseas Tip Sheet to clarify the terminology differences between the States and Girl Scouts Overseas.
